Qatar Says It Has Shot Down Iranian-Launched Drones

(MENAFN) Qatar’s Defense Ministry reported on Monday that the country was targeted by drones launched from Iran, but all were successfully intercepted, according to a Qatari news agency.

In a statement, the ministry confirmed that the drones were neutralized by Qatari air defenses. “The Qatari armed forces successfully intercepted all the drones,” the report added.

The alert comes amid ongoing regional tensions following a US-Israeli air offensive against Iran on Feb. 28, which has reportedly killed over 1,340 people, including Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has since retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military bases, causing casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
