Pakistan, Egypt Urge Immediate Restraint, De-Escalation in Middle East

(MENAFN) Pakistan and Egypt have jointly called for immediate restraint and de-escalation in the Middle East, issuing a firm condemnation of what they described as the latest Israeli aggression across Gaza and the occupied West Bank, as top diplomats convened in Islamabad for urgent multilateral consultations.

The unified stance emerged Sunday from a face-to-face meeting between Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry confirmed in an official statement.

Abdelatty arrived in Islamabad on a two-day visit to participate in a quadrilateral foreign ministers' summit focused on ongoing mediation efforts aimed at bringing the grinding conflict to a halt.

Both ministers reviewed rapidly evolving regional and international developments — with the Middle East crisis commanding the sharpest focus — and jointly stressed the critical need for restraint, diplomatic engagement, and peaceful resolution of disputes.

In the meeting, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan's "unwavering" support for the Palestinian people, while delivering a pointed condemnation of the continued military campaign waged by Israeli forces across Gaza and the West Bank.

Dar also acknowledged Cairo's pivotal role in channeling humanitarian aid into Gaza, including logistical support extended to Pakistan's own relief operations in the besieged territory.

The Islamabad talks reflect growing momentum among regional powers to coordinate a unified diplomatic response as pressure mounts for a ceasefire.
